marissa jayne yoga

well, hello there

DSCN2674Hello and welcome to! Read on for the short(ish) version of me, Marissa. Don’t forget to check below for the special classes coming up with Marissa Jayne Yoga.

I am an E-RYT 200 with over 1,000 hours of experience teaching vinyasa, yin, heated, power, prenatal, adaptive, senior & kids yoga. As founder of Marissa Jayne Yoga, my vision is to cultivate a yoga company that incorporates mindfulness, intention & physical wellness. My mission is to bring the practice of yoga to both experienced & new yogis in a way that they can relate, grow & heal every time they are on their mats & especially when they are not. My personal values & the values of my company are rooted in openness, creativity, philanthropy & kindness.

I am also an energy work practitioner (click here to learn more) & I incorporate doTERRA essential oils, unique music compilations & a decent amount of dry humor to elevate my classes.

I truly believe my journey into yoga began when I was abroad in India and practiced one very early morning outdoors. I felt so deeply connected both spiritually and physically to everything around me. I arrived back home to the states to finish my undergraduate education in psychology and women’s studies at Hope College in Holland, Michigan and then went on to teach English in Eastern Europe. Upon my second return home I began my graduate schooling to receive my MS in leadership and policy studies with a focus on youth programming from DePaul University in Chicago.

Yoga was always a personal escape for me; A time to be alone on my mat. Yet, I always wanted more. After working endless hours in the nonprofit world, I began to seek more than just the practice of yoga after a day spent in front of a computer. I knew I wanted to teach my entire life, but I just wasn’t quite sure how to get there or even where “there” was. Yoga teacher training opened up doors I never thought existed. Teaching changed my life and Marissa Jayne Yoga was born in August 2014.

I work full time in development for a nonprofit and know that I am making a mark on our community in more ways than one. I also have the honor of sharing the practice of yoga and supporting others as they integrate wellness into their lives. I believe deeply in the power of mindfulness and wellness based practices for both children and adults and hope to share my knowledge and experience with all those who join me on my journey.

I am honored to teach in my community and love seeing both familiar and new faces in my classes. I look forward to meeting you and welcome all feedback and questions about both my personal and yoga life. We are in this together and each of you helps me to grow into a better teacher and student.
